Partnering Towards a Greener Future: Co-Creating a Green Micro-Grid System on Singapore’s “Last-Village” Island
Vector Green (formerly VISN) is proud to lend our solar and energy management expertise for the Pulau Ubin Microgrid project. Carried out by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and a consortium of companies, the project aims to integrate renewable energy sources and advanced energy storage systems to power the island more sustainably.
At Pulau Ubin, solar PV systems are installed with large-scale flow battery storage to improve the resilience and reliability of the grid. The addition of plants next to the solar panels to create a “solar green roof” has also reduced the ambient temperature of solar PV systems by 3℃ to 8℃, increasing its efficiency by 1.5 per cent to 4 per cent. With the recent upgrade of more solar panels and batteries, the microgrid will now draw 95 per cent of its power from the sun and drastically cuts down its reliance on diesel.
Vector Green’s contribution to the project include:
- Procurement, Site Coordination and Logistic Handling to Pulau Ubin
- Submissions for Authority Approval
- Civil and Structural Steel Construction (Design and Build) for the New Solar Farm Structure
- Installation of Green Roof and Vegetation
- Installation of Solar PV System (Mechanical and Electrical) & Energy Storage System
- Testing & Commissioning of Solar PV System
