Takeda's Singapore biologics manufacturing facility, conveniently located in Woodlands with easy access to public transportation, facilities, and amenities, focuses on manufacturing potentially life-saving medicines for patients suffering from rare blood disorders such as Hemophilia A and B. As part of the company’s Biologics Operating Unit network, the site is Takeda’s only biologics drug substance manufacturing facility in Asia. Around 400 employees work in this location across teams dedicated to Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, and much more.

Project Overview
Takeda Pharmaceutical set out to achieve a positive energy building at its Woodlands manufacturing site, with the ambition of producing more renewable energy than the facility consumes. Through a combination of innovative building design and on-site renewable energy solutions, this vision was successfully realised.
Vector Green was appointed to design and deliver the solar PV system supporting this goal. Our scope covered detailed system design and simulation, mechanical and electrical installation, as well as testing and commissioning of the solar system. The completed installation comprises more than 550 solar photovoltaic panels, covering approximately 1,600 square metres, and generating between 30 MWh and 40 MWh of electricity each month.
As a result, the building now produces at least 115% of its energy requirements from on-site renewable sources and has been recognised as one of only seven recipients in Singapore to achieve the Green Mark Platinum Positive Energy award. This project demonstrates how renewable energy integration can enable energy-positive industrial facilities while supporting long-term sustainability leadership.
